Learning to Listen: An exhibition of images inspired by music and musicians

Smoking Graphic

Art at Turnstyle Records

The inspiration for these works is the rich visual history of the blues, jazz and rock music, from the graphically bold output of the Blue Note record label, old gramophone record design and the subject matter’s rich photographic history.

The title for this small exhibition was inspired by his friend, the jazz drummer Joey Baron, who once said ‘the greats always had the ability to listen, that’s what made them great’.

Chris Power has been, amongst other things, graphic designer, illustrator, magician, AV technician and more, all spanning a long and varied path. He once dreamed of drawing the Fantastic Four for Marvel Comics in a gloomy and unheated loft in New York.
