What is Streatham Festival?

Now in its 12th year, Streatham Festival is an accessible arts festival celebrating local talent, presenting a mix of emerging and well-established artists and encouraging the imaginative use of the different venues across Streatham that characterise the area.

Streatham Festival Association supports a diverse mix of arts genres, provides opportunities to learn and join in, develops practice in the arts and nurtures artists and audiences through collaborations with communities.  We continue to be supported by the Mayor of London’s Outer London Fund.

What will the 2013 Festival consist of?

For 2013 the festival will run from Thursday 11 to Sunday 14 July.  Each year Streatham Festival Association hosts flagship events and presents an overarching theme to inspire new work right across the programme.

For 2013 the theme will be ‘The Glamour Days’ in celebration of Streatham’s rich heritage of people, architecture, arts and culture.  We hope that partners will indulge this fabulous local history as well as bringing a modern twist as Streatham returns to its glamorous roots.

We will be hosting our flagship event on Saturday afternoon on Streatham Common and will be selecting arts organisations to work with us to deliver this.  Following on from previous years, we will continue to develop our festival pop-up shop, which operates as both an information point and as a venue for exhibitions, workshops and performances.

Alongside our flagship events, Lambeth based organisations and individuals are invited to present their own events, forming the traditionally rich mix of programme that comprises the festival.

 

The Team

The organisation of the Festival is a huge enterprise – it’s run entirely by volunteers who work all year round to deliver the event. The Festival is organised primarily by the Streatham Festival Association Board Members:

The Festival also needs the involvement, enthusiasm and support of the area’s schools, businesses and organisations to make it work. Without their help we wouldn’t be able to deliver the fabulous events, fun nights out, and fantastic atmosphere Streatham Festival enjoys!
